I agree that those interconnected billions of devices are going to change how services are personalised - hopefully to the better. We will see in a few years what it all develops into.
We already witness services that were impossible a few years ago. Not just impossible - but nobody had any plans like those...
It is another proof of technology being a major factor in business development. Technology comes before business strategy. Great opportunity for CIOs and IT folks!

Nowadays, Microsoft's strong financial results are heavily reliant on the cloud side of its business and the most recent quarterly results are no exception. Of the total $30.1 billion revenue recorded, 9.6 was from the segment 'Intelligent Cloud' - a new high which translated to $3.9 billion of operating income.

Felsorolnak jó sok potenciális problémát, amivel szembe kell nézniük a közeli jövőben, például: növekvő verseny, a felhőszolgáltatással kapcsolatos kockázatok, nem jönnek be az új szolgáltatások, rossz lóra tesznek az üzleti kapcsolatok terén és még egy csomó. Vajon a sorrend a probléma lehetséges hatását vagy a bekövetkezés valószínűségét jelzi (vagy mindkettőt kombinálva)?

Szóval, mesterséges agya lesz a városnak! Közlekedési kamerákból és jelzőlámpás kereszteződésekből szedik majd az adatokat, amiket mindenféle nagyszerű dologra használnak fel, miután az Alibaba mesterséges agya feldolgozza és elemzi őket. Akár sávonként is figyelni tudják majd az autók sebességét, és így fogják észrevenni a baleseteket. A mentőszolgálat és a többi hasonló használhatja útvonaltervezésre ezeket az adatokat. Később üzleti célra is kiadják majd…

Vajon sokkal jobb lesz ezen a területen, mint a Waze? Más információból dolgozik majd.

Nagyon kevésnek tűnik a cikkben írt 382 kamera. Az a benyomásom, hogy Budapesten sokkal több van. Igaz, hogy Kuala Lumpur területe alig fele Budapestének.

SAP and the WTA unveiled SAP Tennis Analytics, which serves real-time statistics to media. 

What I love about this technology is the real-time nature, especially as a broadcaster.

A tegnapi írásom folytatása, benne újabb részletek az SAP és a WTA együttműködéséről. Tegnap az edzők szemszögéből, ma a riporterekéből is.

Az SAP Leonardo mesterséges intelligencia (machine learning) és az SAP Predictive Analytics a meccs közben gyűjtött adatokat összeveti a korábbiakkal, egymás mellett mutatja a játékosok és versenyek eredményeit meccs közben. Ha valami szokatlan történik, riaszt és segít az elemzésben.

A tévében a riporter azonnal villoghat ilyen információkkal: “a ami a játékos legrosszabb szervateljesítménye idén”, “ez a 14. ásza, ennyit még sose ütött”, és ehhez nem kellenek azok a korábban olyan értékes jegyzetek!

Persze, ettől még nem lesz belőle Vitray!

“Tennis is a data-driven sport and information is power. Many of our matches usually come down to just a few key points and any advantage that players and coaches can gain by analysing trends and data could deliver and edge in the match."

Key performance data, such as serve direction and shot placement, is fed to coaches in real-time to enable them to give players appropriate advice.

“These statistics on the coaching app will make my job easier and advice more accurate during a match,” said WTA coach Wim Fissette.

Azt mondja a WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) vezetője, hogy a tenisz adatvezérelt sport. Sok meccs csak néhány ponton múlik, ezért egy pici előny is számít, amit adatelemzéssel meg lehet szerezni.

A meccs közben azonnal megkapja az edző a fontos adatokat. Ez segíti abban, hogy jobb tanácsokat adjon a versenyzőjének.

A szurkolóknak a WTA Finals mobilos app szolgáltat információt.

Más sportokban is használnak valós idejű adatokat és adatelemzést. A vitorlázásról és a kerékpározásról már írtam is.

Fociról is hallottam már, de azt nem tudom, hogy meccs közben csinálják-e. Még sose láttam a pálya szélén az edző kezében mobilt, amin az elemzéseket nézné. A felkészítés közbeni használatról először három évvel ezelőtt a Metropolitan Egyetemen (akkor még BKF) Rabatin Józseftől hallottam. A Vasas Kubala Akadémián végzett munkáról tartott előadást az Executive MBA kurzuson.

A cikkben a foci is szerepel (Bayern München és a német válogatott).

Milyen sportban kap még a verseny (meccs) közben számítógépes elemzéseket az edző (vagy a versenyző)? Ki tud ilyenről?

A felhő (AWS) a legprofitábilisabb üzletága az Amazonnak. Valójában ez fedezi a többi üzlet veszteségeit. A bevétel 11%-a és a profit 146%-a származik az AWS-ből. Más szóval: a többi üzletág 288 millió veszteséget, a felhő 916 millió nyereséget termelt.

Ennek alapján, persze, nem javasolnám a többi bezárását…

Fokozódik a helyzet, Watson egyre több dologgal kerül kapcsolatba - előbb-utóbb akár mindennel! Eljön az az idő, amiről márciusban írtam (Okos felhő vagy köd?). Most éppen újabb 200 millió dollárt tesz bele az IBM ebbe a témába, hogy a Watson az összekapcsolt okos (és nem okos) dolgokkal tudjon együtt dolgozni.

A 250 hektáros tesztpályát Zalaegerszegen hozzák létre. Ekkora pályára 500 kilométeres környezetben nincs példa. Ez a 40 milliárd forintból elkészülő beruházás nagy segítséget jelenthet a hazánkban működő nagyvállalatoknak (Robert Bosch, ThyssenKrupp) és kisebb hazai startupoknak, mint például az AdasWorks-nek.

Többszintű, gazdaságos laborfejlesztést, külföldi hallgatókat és gyors nemzetközi tudományos eredményeket tervez a BME az autonóm járművek mérnöki terület oktatásában és kutatásában.

A BME és az ELTE is indít az önvezető autókkal foglalkozó speciális mesterképzéseket, "Autonomous Vehicle Control Engineering", illetve "Computer Science for Autonomous Driving" címmel. Ezek nem a semmiből kerülnek elő, és nem a levegőben lógnak majd! Autóiparban már van sok tudás Magyarországon, és az önvezető autók fejlesztésében is kezdünk világhatalomnak számítani (pl.: AdasWorks Kft.).

A májusi tragédia nem volt hiábavaló, a Tesla óriásit változtat az autóin. Új szoftvert préselnek bele a régi hardverbe, így észre fogja venni az autó azokat az akadályokat is, amiket eddig nem (pl. egy keresztben álló kamiont). Sőt, megjelenik a "felhő" is: az autók folyamatosan továbbítják az adatokat az utakról, és így a központon keresztül értesülnek az akadályokról még mielőtt odaérnének. Kezd alakulni... :-)

Kezd összeállni a kép. Nem volt számomra világos az üzleti modell, amiben egyre csak nő az Über vesztesége. Most már látom, hogy nem az olcsón beugró alkalmi sofőrökre hegyezték ki a tervet. Ők csak arra kellenek, hogy mielőbb megszerezzék az üzleti részesedést. Hamarosan nem lesz rájuk szükség, jönnek a Ford önvezető autói, amikből 2021-ben már tömegtermelés lesz (kormány és pedálok se lesznek bennük).

Dynamic driving task includes the operational (steering, braking, accelerating, monitoring the vehicle and roadway) and tactical (responding to events, determining when to change lanes, turn, use signals, etc.) aspects of the driving task, but not the strategic (determining destinations and waypoints) aspect of the driving task. Driving mode is a type of driving scenario with characteristic dynamic driving task requirements (e.g., expressway merging, high speed cruising, low speed traffic jam, closed-campus operations, etc.). Request to intervene is notification by the automated driving system to a human driver that s/he should promptly begin or resume performance of the dynamic driving task.

The base is closed to the public and guarded by the military, making it, officials claim, “the largest secure test facility in the world” for the “testing validation and commercialization of connected vehicle (CV) applications and autonomous vehicles (AV) technologies to define the next generation of transportation network infrastructure.” Mercedes-Benz and Honda have already carried out experiments with self-driving cars behind its barbed-wire fences.

Az Apple elküldött több tucat embert az önvezető autót tervező projektből, és új vezetőt (egy régi motorost) tett meg vezetőnek. A pletykák szerint alaposan megváltozott az irány. Már nem saját autó gyártása a cél, hanem a szükséges technológia létrehozása. Azt hiszem, hogy ez jó döntés! Az autógyártás bonyolult, és sok cég érti már alaposan. Nem érdemes az Apple-nek erre pazarolni az erőforrásait. Az eddigiekből az viszont jól látszik, hogy a számítástechnikai részén még sok-sok tennivaló van. Fókuszáljanak arra!

Pillantsunk vissza, hogy mit írt a McKinsey az internetre kapcsolt autókról két évvel ezelőtt!
Az üzlet méretéről: 2020-ra a kapcsolódáshoz szükséges alkatrészek és szolgáltatások éves forgalma 170 milliárd dollárra nő (30 milliárdról).
A vevők igényeiről: 13%-nál szóba se jön olyan új autó, ami nem kapcsolódik az internetre.

I was driving 70 mph on the edge of downtown St. Louis when the exploit began to take hold.

The Jeep lost more momentum and barely crept forward. Cars lined up behind my bumper before passing me, honking. I could see an 18-wheeler approaching in my rearview mirror. I hoped its driver saw me, too, and could tell I was paralyzed on the highway.

Csodás élmény lehetett, amikor a Jeep Cherokee néhány "szórakoztató" esemény után az autópályán annyira lelassított, hogy már alig haladt, és hátulról jött a kamion! Mindez egy hagyományos autóban történt, és azért, mert támadók az interneten keresztül átvették az egész autó irányítását.
